Seed of Faith

First Congregational Church Haverhill traces its roots back to 1642, when John Ward was ordained its first minister. Over the centuries it has had many Deaths and resurrections . Phoenix Rising United Church of Christ is its latest expression of New life!
Like a seed that must die in order to bring forth its fruit, seeds of faith, prayer and discernment were planted in 2011.
Phoenix Rising UCC broke forth in 2014 when Rev. Donna Spencer Collins was called to serve as founding pastor.
God is speaking to this generation a message of love, justice and transformation. This is at the core of the United Church of Christ Mission.

Phoenix Rising United Church of Christ is a Christ-Centered community that celebrates our belonging to God and each other.
In the spirit of God’s love we recognize the uniqueness of every individual as God’s beloved child bound together in Christ whether we know it or not. We seek to create a community of caring where all know they are welcomed and included no matter race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions , marital status, physical and mental ability or economic circumstance. Where all are given equal opportunity to participate in the full life and ministry of the church: including, worship, sacrament and other rites.

We seek to respond faithfully to God’s call for justice for all creation. We seek to live our lives following in the ways of Jesus who turned no one away. We endeavor to model his compassion and acceptance in word and in deed with the help of God and each other. We believe that when we engage with Jesus seriously, it doesn't take long to recognize that we are drawn into relationship with other people. We invite you to come and discover what it means to belong and be fully accepted as a child of God.
